HOW WE CAME TO BE
A Mad Fine Story
In early 2022, lifelong creative Sophie Flack was introduced to the inner workings of New York City’s Diamond District and was taken by the hidden community of highly skilled craftsmen right in her backyard, in the heart of Manhattan.
Semper Augustus launched on Mother’s Day 2022 in response to Roe v Wade being overturned. The debut collection featured the abortion pills cast in solid 14k and a portion of proceeds benefited the National National Network of Abortion Funds.
The unique offerings, steeped with meaning caught the attention of celebrity stylists and the ‘Mife Signet’ was touted by actress Amanda Seyfreid in The Strategist. SNL’s Bowen Yang wore the ‘Welly B’ ring and matching pendant in The Cut and the Stationary Prozac Necklace was featured in I-D Magazine alongside Gucci and Nike.
Sister brand Mad Fine launched in 2023 with the same unapologetic perspective only available at a less cost prohibitive price point. The bestselling pave ‘ADHD’ necklace quickly sold out after appearing on actor Justin Theroux in Us Weekly and Queer Eye’s Antoni Perowski on Entertainment Tonight. Actress Jessica Alba was photographed in our ‘VOTE’ necklace in a People Magazine lineup.
The merger of the two lines allows for us to grow into a more dynamic jewlery brand offering an expansive catalogue but with the same unapolegetic perspective and tongue-in-cheek humor.
Our showroom is in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan, a short subway ride from the Diamond District, where Sophie works closely with her bench jeweler.
